With summer approaching rapidly and the 2010 roofing season in full swing, now is the time to shop around and consider alternatives, rather than being rushed into expensive re-roofing that you may not need.

Nine out of ten leaking flat roofs ONLY need expert repair, NOT replacement. Don't be pressured into a premature (and expensive) re-roofing project by contractors who are more interested in filling their schedules than in providing the services you really need.

Remember, if we repair your existing EPDM roof before August 15, 2010 and then install a new EPDM roof anytime within the next five years, 100% of the amount you paid for repairs will be discounted from the price of your new EPDM roof! That is like getting the repairs free of charge!

CONSUMER WARNING!!!
Numerous instances of EPDM installations failing within a few months have been reported in the Twin Cities, as well as throughout the Upper Midwest. Unscrupulous "contractors" playing to the greed of bid-shoppers are using asphalt roof cement to "seal" the seams of new EPDM installations.

Asphalt roof cement is incompatible with EPDM roofing. The light oils in the asphalt will literally dissolve EPDM. Using asphalt products to seal EPDM may enable a contractor on a low-bid project to make more profit, but it is at your expense.

Not only will the roof leak within weeks or months, but it must then be stripped off or covered with buffer board to prevent the asphalt from deteriorating the new roof that will be required to replace it.

Similarly, another current practice commonly seen in the Twin Cities is EPDM seams "sealed" with contact adhesive, rather than the high-tech seam sealer insert used in quality installations.

While such seams may last a bit longer than seams smeared with asphalt roof cement, the result is the same--the life-span of the roof is cut to a few years, when it should be 25-30 years or more.

The more you know about EPDM Rubber Roofing, the more you will want to do business with EPDMSpecialists. We do it right the first time, every time.

EPDM Rubber Roofing

We specialize in premium quality EPDM Rubber roof installations that provide the highest value--dollar for dollar--of any commercial flat roofing system available. Virtually trouble-free for 20+ years when properly installed, EPDM Rubber Roofing is the #1 choice for durable, cost-effective re-roofing projects. We can install a top-quality, fully-adhered 45 mil EPDM Rubber roof for as little as $2.25 per square foot--the same roof other Twin Cities contractors charge $3.50 to $6 per square foot to install!

Roof Re-Decking

We can take the sting out of one of the biggest sources of "cost overruns" in commercial building remodeling--the time-and-material bids to replace deteriorated roof decking before re-roofing. In many cases it is more economical to re-deck the entire roof with plywood or high-density fiberboard than it is to replace one sheet here, another sheet there--all at premium prices.

The advantages of re-decking are that structural strength is added, while spot replacement leaves other weak and defective areas to develop problems in the near future. In a typical re-decking, 1/2" plywood or high-density fiberboard is installed with screws and 3" metal discs. The screws penetrate through the existing roof and decking, and into the roof rafters or trusses. The 3" metal discs securely hold the new decking in place, while guarding against the possibility that the fasteners will "back out" after a year or two, puncturing the roof membrane and leading to multiple leaks.

Nails of any type, including coated nails, spiral nails, and ring shank nails should NEVER be used to secure any materials applied to horizontal surfaces on a "nailable" flat roof deck. The only exceptions to the "no nails" policy is that concrete fasteners or pins may be used to secure termination bars or metal flashing on parapet walls, and fluted concrete nails may be used to mechanically-fasten material to concrete decks.

Concrete and Masonry Repair

Whether you need minor tuckpointing of a brick surface, epoxy-injection repairs to restore the structural integrity of your brick building, or extensive caulking to seal and weatherproof the exterior of your facility, we can provide top-quality services at prices that are typically 30-50% below the "normal contractor pricing" in the Twin Cities.
